How to Prevent Fraud
As unfortunate as it is, fraud is something that has been on the rise for years. It can be scary and stressful to become a victim of it. However, you can mitigate the fraud by taking action and staying diligent.
Be Aware
Be sure to review your monthly statements and your account transaction history and make sure you recognize each transaction that has occurred. If you see something that doesn't look right, call the credit union right away.
Keep Your Personal Information Updated and Private
If you have a change of phone number, address, name, etc., make sure to let the credit union know so they have the correct information when verifying your identity prior to performing a transaction or giving you information regarding the account. Avoid sharing your information with friends and family and be extra cautious about what information you share over the phone. Never give your full social security number to anyone trying to verify your information.
Set up Multi-factor Authentication for your Mobile Banking
PFCU’s mobile banking app allows you to set up multi-factor authentication when you log in. This allows you to sign in with either a passcode, face ID, or voice recognition in addition to your username, password, and security questions. Adding this feature and keeping in private is an excellent way to add an extra layer of security to your account.
Set up a Code Word
Did you know you can add a codeword to your account at PFCU? With a codeword, our staff can verify your identity quicker, and more securely when you call or stop in to perform a transaction. This is another great way to add more security to your information. Make sure you never share your codeword with anyone else.
